today felt like a warm rain-shower.
it felt serene and exhilarating at the same time, to breathe it in.
it felt warm and sticky
the humidity seeping through my downtown clothes.
tendrils curling
deep breaths in
a calm smile sticking to me, accessorizing my umbrella.
wet at my hems
face framed
ducking through crosswalks and puddles.
ducks don't get wet.
neither do i.
today feels like gratitude.

a robin is sitting in my lap
they say a robin is someone passed,
coming for a visit.
they say that like it's a nice thing but
honestly, I don't know how comforting that
idea is to me.
i'm not convinced any of my ghosts would come sit in my lap. i'm not sure it would
warm either of us.
it would sit there on my lap in silence,
maybe bring me a worm.
even then, what am i going to do with a worm?
they never did get me.
and now i have a robin sitting in my lap
pinning me down so i can't move
what if it lays eggs that i have to hold, too?
but they say that like it's a nice thing.
